Fair use policy

Version: July 2025

This Fair Use Policy is designed to ensure that all patients receive safe, effective, and focused medical care during consultations. It supports our clinicians in managing time appropriately, so that each health concern is given the attention it deserves.

Policy statement

At The Tutbury Practice, we kindly ask that patients present only one medical issue per consultation or triage request. This policy applies to all appointment types, including in-person, telephone, and online consultations.

Why this policy is important

  • Patient Safety: Discussing multiple issues in one consultation can lead to rushed assessments and important details being missed.
  • Clinical Quality: Focusing on one issue enables your clinician to explore your symptoms thoroughly and provide the best possible care.
  • Fair Access: It ensures we can offer appointments fairly to all patients who need care.
  • Time Management: Appointments are typically 10 minutes long sufficient for addressing one issue safely and effectively.

What this means for you

  • Please identify your most important concern before your appointment or triage submission.
  • If you have more than one issue, please submit a separate triage form on a different day.
  • For urgent multiple issues that are unrelated, our clinical team may advise you to submit an additional triage request or rebook for another time, depending on clinical urgency and capacity.

Responsible use of the AccuRX triage system

The Accurx triage system is designed to help patients access medical advice and support appropriately. To ensure it remains effective and fair for everyone, we ask all patients to use the service responsibly. Please submit only one request per day, unless your clinical situation significantly changes.

We also encourage patients to maintain realistic expectations about what the service can offer. While we strive to respond promptly and professionally, Accurx is not an instant messaging service. Some requests may take up to two working days to receive a full response, depending on clinical demand and complexity. Please be patient and avoid chasing responses unless a condition deteriorates.

Using the system to request repeated updates, expect same-day outcomes for non-urgent issues, or demand services not clinically appropriate places unnecessary pressure on the team and may delay care for others. Repeated misuse may result in reduced access to the triage system in line with this policy.

Exceptions

In certain circumstances multiple concerns may be addressed in a single appointment. This will be at the clinician’s discretion and based on clinical judgement.
