Fit to fly

Patients may occasionally be asked to provide a “fit to fly” or “fit to travel” letter when travelling abroad, particularly if they have a significant or long-term medical condition. Such letters should be completed by a healthcare professional who is directly involved in the management of the condition, such as a GP, hospital consultant, or specialist.

Unfortunately, our practice is unable to provide fit to fly or fit to travel letters. We are not able to guarantee that an individual will be medically fit to travel on a specific date, nor can we certify that they will not experience a medical issue or emergency during their journey.

If you are under the care of a hospital specialist or consultant, whether through the NHS or privately, they may be better placed to assess your suitability for travel and determine whether a supporting letter can be provided. Any decision to issue such a letter remains at the discretion of the specialist concerned.

Please note that we are unable to issue travel fitness letters based solely on assessments, opinions, or recommendations provided by other healthcare services.
