Who can request proxy access?
As family member or carer, you may be able to manage services for another person who is over 16 years of age by using the NHS App and switching to their profile. This is also sometimes called having a ‘linked profile’ or having ‘proxy access’. It needs to be set up by a GP surgery and both parties must be registered at the same GP surgery. You can then switch profiles using the NHS App or by logging in through the NHS website. You can also do this if you use a third party App to access NHS records, such as patientaccess.com
Non-urgent advice: Can I register proxy access for my children?
Parents and guardians can request proxy access to a child’s NHS records. When the child reaches 11 years of age, the practice will review this access. The child will receive a letter explaining their options and asking whether they wish their parent’s or guardian’s access to continue.
