Change to our triage system

Posted on:

We are making changes to our triage booking system from 1st October 2025

How does the appointment system work?

We now operate a total triage system. If you need an appointment, you can contact us anytime between 8:00am and 6:30pm.

We ask that you complete a short triage form online via our website. The form only takes a few minutes and has been successfully used by patients and staff for over a year. It asks for as much information as possible about your problem — this is essential, as it helps the triaging clinician direct you to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service.

What if I can’t complete the form?

If you don’t have access to the internet or need help, you can:

  • Ask a family member or friend to complete the form on your behalf, or
  • Call or visit our reception, where staff can complete this with you.
Please note, this may take longer during busy times. Completing the form yourself (or with help from someone you know) will usually mean we can help you more quickly.

Why use triage?

Triage helps us balance demand with the capacity we have available. It ensures patients are directed to the most suitable NHS service — and not every issue needs to be seen by a GP. Often, another healthcare professional may be better placed to help. This system also helps to reduce the “8am rush” by spreading requests throughout the day, allowing us to respond more efficiently and within appropriate timeframes.
