Cervical Screening campaign

Posted on:

Getting your smear test (cervical screening) could save your life.

• It is offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 years old.

• If you are eligible, you will be invited every 3 years until you are 49, and then every 5 years from the age of 50 to 64.

Your GP practice can guide you through what happens at a cervical screening appointment. When you get your invite, book your appointment through the NHS App or contact your GP practice.

Up to 99.8% of cervical cancer cases are preventable through screening (smear test) and the HPV vaccine.

• Cervical cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages. Screening can catch it before it turns into cancer.

• 1 in 3 people do not attend when invited for their screening test. Do not be the person to put it off.

Do not delay. Book your cervical screening appointment through the NHS App or by contacting your GP practice as soon as your invite arrives.
